Accommodate or Recalculate 11/30/2011
 Right way. Cliff ahead soon. Great job! You are now at your destination. What if you received a new GPS device for Christmas that only affirmed you as you went in the wrong direction? What if it made you feel real good about yourself while you are heading over a cliff? Among those ministering to alcoholics, drug abusers and their families, DFM is unique. We present recovery with a prophetic cutting edge. Some ministries accommodate the downtrodden through humanitarian aid. While we commend these efforts, God has distinctly called DFM to speak a word beyond comfort and care. We are called to recalculate direction and divert potential destruction. Thank God for those who accommodated me when I was busted and broken! Thank God even more for those who ignored my whining and had enough courage and love to say your behavior is not acceptable and it will not be tolerated. Your behavior is destructive and beneath the person God created you to be. There is a better way for you! Their correction 20 years ago saved me from going over a cliff and dying! There is something deeply gratifying about seeing “the expected loser” win! Against all odds, from the back of the pack, with burdens unimaginable, these people rise from their graves of defeat to be crowned victorious! They press through the crowd to receive the prize! Monday night at the Wings of Life was extraordinary! Wave after wave of deep praise and thanksgiving rose from this crowd of recovering alcoholics and drug addicts. I kept thinking of Luke 7:47. A woman, known to be “a sinner,” interrupted dinner at a Pharisee’s house. She came in to give thanks to Jesus. Jesus said, Therefore, I say to you, her sins, which were many, are forgiven, for she loved much. But to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little. Common people heard Jesus gladly. To the selfrighteous He said, crooks and whores are going to precede you into God’s Kingdom. Matthew 21:31 (The Message) If you have ever been down and out, if it should dawn upon you, how separated you were from God before Jesus came into your life, therein is cause for unusual thanksgiving. Let the praise begin! DFM has the great privilege of Reaching Underdogs (like me) for the Glory of God! May your Thanksgiving be filled with deep gratitude as we celebrate His mercy upon our lives.
